“Alvaro Morata does not put away my passes” – Cesc Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas has admitted Alvaro Morata will come good at Chelsea but is in oblivion as to why the summer signing does not put away his passes.

Fabregas is widely known for his contributions in games with cracking numbers in the assist column.

His combo with the departed Diego Costa was a fearsome one that led to Chelsea’s title wins in 2014/15 and 2016/17 seasons.

However, after Morata arrived at Chelsea, Fabregas has struggled to emulate his previous records. The former Barcelona midfielder has recorded zero assists in six premier league games despite creating 15 chances in open play this season.

He joked while speaking to Spanish newspaper, Onda Cero, that Morata has converted most of the passes received from others, but not from him.

Alvaro is a great lad. He’s come here to add and he is doing a great job.

He has adapted very fast to what the coach wants and to the league, which is not an easy one for strikers.

We are trying to help him as much as possible. He is working very well. For the past three years I’ve had with Diego a spectacular striker in front of me. I hope I have that great feeling with Alvaro.

So far I’ve given him three [assists] and he hasn’t scored them! I told him on Saturday that he puts away all except mine.

Chelsea take on Atletico Madrid on Wednesday in the UEFA Chamoions League and Fabregas will be hoping his compatriot will learn to understand him better on the pitch.
