Chelsea teammates planning mutiny against Antonio Conte

A repeat of the happenings in the 2015/2016 season will be seen as a disaster at Chelsea but the signs may be pointing to that this summer.

Several warnings are going unheeded with Chelsea failing to add quality players to their ranks after winning the title last season. The sense of joy and togetherness also missing from camp following Diego Costa’s dismissal by Antonio Conte, while there have been open calls by Chelsea players on the transfer activities this summer.

Some influential players have left the club, to name a few, John Terry who is the clubs longest serving captain left to Aston Villa, Nemanja Matic departed to Manchester United while the likes of Nathan Ake and Nathaniel Chalobah all left to join Premier League sides.

The arrivals have been good but the feeling at Chelsea, especially among the players, is that the numbers have been few. Tiemoue Bakayoko was bought from Monaco, Alvaro Morata’s big money move from Real Madrid was not welcome by some at the club, as they feel he is not of the required quality to replace Costa; Willy Caballero came in to replace a back up goalkeeper Asmir Begovic who left for Bournemouth. Antonio Rudiger may have come in to add to the numbers in Conte’s defense, but the general sense at Chelsea is that players feel the club has been sluggish in their attempts to add more quality.

The manner in which the Blues lost out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United is one that raised concerns, plus missing out on a host of top stars.

The players feel they won’t have the legs for a grueling season as this as Chelsea record the thinnest squad among the top six sides in the Premier League.

Conte’s handling of Costa has brought about some sense of insecurity at Chelsea in that the Daily Mail reports, Willian, a compatriot of Costa, fears he could be next in line for an axe regardless of performances.

The Mail adds that it is believed Willian does not have the full trust of Conte and may want to do away with the Brazil international should he have the chance to do so.

Costa in in exile in Brazil after Conte told him via text he was not part of his plans, leading to reports suggesting he may never return to Chelsea.

It is also believed Costa has the backing and sympathy of some Chelsea players who think he has been treated unfairly and may not be willing to put themselves on the line for the club this season.

The report further states the Chelsea players are not trusting of Conte and are frustrated by the lack of transfers to beef up the squad.

Should this happen, it is likely to be a repeat of the disastrous 2015/2016 season under Jose Mourinho which led to the manager’s sacking in December.

Conte fears he may on his way to emulating Mourinho’s dark season at Chelsea.

Two coaches have been sacked from Chelsea and Leicester after winning the league and I want to avoid this and the players want to avoid the bad season they had with Mourinho.

We know the next season will be tough and we want to avoid what happened in the previous seasons for Chelsea, two years ago the team finished in 10th place in the Premier League.

We are working very well and we hope to find the best solution in the future. We have a lot of young players and if necessary we will have to try to put these players.

Antonio Conte, Sun

If Conte would successfully buck the trend in England of getting sacked a few months after winning the Premier League title, he needs to act fast with teh club and of course in his dressing room.

Ceasing control in the dressing room and addressing fear concerns are some of the ways he can win back some trust from his players and also manage the egos of the richly assembled side.

His employers have their part to play as well. Acting proatively to bring in new players in the transfer market is one sure way to increase joy levels at the club.

At the moment, it’s all doom and gloom at SW6.
