Chelsea have completed the signing of Davide Zappacosta, the Torino right back.
In a deal that came from nowhere this afternoon, the Blues swooped for the Italy international after their failure to secure Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has joined Liverpool.
Zappacosta has spent two seasons in Serie A with Torino, and one before that with Atalanta. Before that he had worked his way up through the divisions as a young player in his native Lazio region outside Rome. He signs for 4 years for a fee reported to be €25m with add-ons that could raise that fee significantly.
More like Zappacrosta, rite? pic.twitter.com/iTqYDq2lr5

The right sided defender is known for his exceptional crossing ability, and will provide the Blues with much needed depth behind Victor Moses.
It’s Chelsea’s first signing on deadline day, with at least one more expected as the Blues desperately look to strengthen a squad that still looks thin up front and in central midfield.
He has four caps for Italy, his debut coming under Antonio Conte in 2016.
