Chelsea’s start to season at risk after losing another attacker

Pedro was sent home from China yesterday after suffering a concussion in a clash with Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina during Chelsea’s impressive 3-0 win in Beijing.

The Spaniard collided with the goalkeeper and looked seriously shaken by what happened. He was replaced by Jeremie Boga, and went to hospital for tests.

It appears that the former Barcelona man is ok, and he sent out this tweet to reassure fans that he’s not seriously hurt, but a concussion is a serious issue with the Community Shield less than two weeks away.

Eden Hazard is only just beginning his recovery from an ankle injury and won’t be available until several weeks into the coming season, so missing Pedro for even two weeks could be a big blow to the team. Willian can step into the breach, but beyond him the squad is looking thing.

Boga impressed in his cameo against the Gunners, and will almost certainly now have a bigger role to play in the remaining friendlies. He may even find himself with another chance to terrify Arsene Wenger’s team on the 6th August, when the season starts at Wembley.
