Chelsea want another AS Monaco star

The Telegraph reports Chelsea have made attempts to hijack Manchester City’s deal to land Benjamin Mendy from AS Monaco.

Man City have been hot favorites to sign the full back who played a stellar role for AS Monaco in their French Ligue 1 triumph and Champions League last four berth last season.

The Citizens after allowing several of their full backs to leave this summer have brought in Kyle Walker from Tottenham Hotspur and have had a bid of £44.5 million rejected by Monaco.

According to the Telegraph, Chelsea are ready to pounce on the 23-year old after they made an enquiry for his services.

Moncao hold a stance of £50 million plus add-ons and tell City to meet the price like they paid for Walker.

The Telegraph say Chelsea have asked to be informed on developments on Mendy as they look for other options after missing out on Antonio Conte’s first choice Alex Sandro.

Juventus refuse to strike a deal and are willing to offer Sandro a new contract to deter Chelsea.

Monaco could lose many of their star players from last season, after Tiemoue Bakayoko joined Chelsea, Bernadinho Silva was secured by Man City while the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Thomas Lemar are subject to bids from Real Madrid and Arsenal respectively, according to multiple sources.
