Chelsea legend advises Antonio Conte to sign Italian striker

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has received advise from club legend Gianfranco Zola in his quest to sign a new striker for Chelsea to replace Diego Costa.

The former forward, Zola, told Conte the best option for him this summer is snap up Belotti from Italian side Torino, a player he describes as ‘perfect fit’ for Chelsea.

Costa will leave Chelsea this summer possibly for Atletico Madrid but the deal has stalled because Diego Simeone is unable to sign a player this summer following the failure to appeal the transfer ban at CAS.

Alvaro Morata and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have been linked to the Blues but Zola thinks the best player for Conte is Belotti.

To be honest, I was thinking Chelsea should go for Andrea Belotti in Italy. I thought that considering the type of qualities Costa has, that Belotti was the perfect fit.

Morata is a little bit different, he’s more of a finesse player. He hasn’t got the presence of a player like Costa in the box. He’s a different player, he brings other qualities.

Costa was very influential last season, he’s a type of player who fits with the style of football at Chelsea, and that [finding a like-for-like replacement] will be the key for Chelsea.

Torino are holding up for a €100m fee for the lethal striker who scored 26 goals last season, registering seven assists.

Chelsea are in great need for a striker – thanks to Conte’s text to Costa – and narrowly missed out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United.
