Chelsea are finally on the verge of securing the signature of a big name striker, taking Antonio Conte’s squad one step closer to being ready for the new season.
It’s been a period of disappointment for Chelsea and their board as the club watched Romelu Lukaku slip through their fingers to Manchester United, and since then they have been frustrated in all their attempts to sign other forwards.
But now according to Italian transfer weirdo Gianluca Di Marzio, the Blues are “very close” to securing Alvaro Morata.

The Spanish forward may feel a little like a second choice after the Lukaku debacle, but he’s keen to move somewhere where he can start every week with the faith of the manager, and with Diego Costa so far out of the door he’s almost in Madrid already, Morata and Chelsea seem like a good fit for both parties.
