Antonio Conte has signed a new two year deal at Chelsea as the club prepare to depart for their preseason tour of the Far East.
The Italian coach has been a huge hit in England during his first season, winning the Premier League against the odds and reaching the FA Cup final. His passion and touchline excitement have made him an instant favourite with Blues fans, and his 343 system was given huge credit in leading his team to the title.
Fans were becoming edgy about how long this deal took to complete, with rumours linking the former Juve man with the Inter Milan job consistently as the season drew to a close. The slow transfer business conducted by the club through June and the first half of July added to the feeling of pessimism around the club.
But now the deal is signed, a cloud feels as though it has been cleared from above the club, and thoughts can turn to the new season and the pressing need to tie Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois down to new contracts too.
