Atletico Madrid President gives shock update to Diego Costa transfer

Atletico Madrid, the club Diego Costa dreams of returning to are not so interested in the transfer this summer according to club President Enrique Cerezo.

Speaking to AS in an interview, Cerezo reveals Atletico aren’t keen on resigning the forward due to their failure to lift the transfer embargo placed on them this summer.

Costa has not been in favor of at Chelsea especially in the eyes of his manager Antonio Conte who delivered a text to Costa shortly after last season, insisting the controversial striker is not needed back at the club.

Costa on the other hand has given various indications he will return to the Vicente Calderon but his former chairman says no for the moment.

Costa is a Chelsea player at the moment, and you know for a long time now that we cannot sign anyone. This shows that pyjamas come in all different colours. Everyone can put on whichever ones they want.

Diego is a magnificent player, a great player, he was in Spain for many years. He has had a good spell in England, learned English, English customs. He will return to Spain someday… On holiday. Madrid is a lovely place to visit, if you have the money to enjoy it.

It is a long time since I spoke with him,’ he added. ‘At least a year, since he left here. I have seen him with the Spanish national team, but spoken to him very little.
