27 year old Chelsea target’s price rises to £44.25m

Vitolo today signed a new Sevilla deal, effectively ending interest in his services from rival clubs as the winger’s release clause increased by €20m with the stroke of a pen.

Spanish paper AS were the first to report that the Canary Island native had put pen to paper on a new contract.

Chelsea had been linked with a bid for the 27 year old in recent months, as he previously had a release clause of just €30m, meaning that he was very much affordable for anyone who was interested. Atletico Madrid were thought to be front of the queue and were planning to loan him to his hometown club of Las Palmas until the termination of their transfer ban in January, but now the club from the Spanish capital find themselves adrift too as Vitolo sees his wages raised significantly, along with, more importantly, his release clause, which now stands at €50m.
