Former Chelsea midfielder, Oscar has been banned for eight games for inciting a mass brawl in a Chinese Super League fixture against Guangzhou R&F.

His side, Shanghai SIPG, played out a 1-1 draw with Ghangzhou on Sunday in a game that was hotly contested. Two players of Ghangzhou were sent off in the first half after the brawl but Oscar escaped punishment.

The Brazilian was spotted kicking a ball purposefully and viciously against two players of Ghangzhou including Li Zixiang who was later sent off alongside Shanghai SIPG player Fu Huan.

There was severe punishment for Fu and Li who will now miss six and five games respectively in the CSL.

Oscar will now also cough out 40,000 Yuan ($6,000) as fine, as well as serve his ban for his part in the brawl.

The 25-year old denied any malicious intent after the game insisting he didn’t disrespect his opponents.

Disrespect the opponent? It is not true. I am a very dedicated player and respect sportsmanship.
