OFFICIAL: Bertrand Traore completes Lyon move from Chelsea for fee rumoured to be €20m

Bertrand Traore has completed his move to Lyon, ending an odd spell at Stamford Bridge that promised much but never quite had a chance to grow.

The news is not yet official from the clubs, but various pronouncements from Jean Michel Aulas, Lyon’s president, through the week have confirmed it’s on the way, and this tweet from GetFrenchFootball features the forward in the French team’s kit.

Previous tweets from the same organisation indicated a price of around €20m, although any potential add-ons will remain a mystery for now.

Lyon are buying Traore largely on the strength of a superb season at Ajax last term, where the Burkinabe forward fired the Dutch club to the Europa League final and showed more of the great potential that he also displayed the year before in a struggling Chelsea team.

There are few doubt at Stamford Bridge that Traore is a goalscorer and potentially a very good player. We wish him all the best in France.
