Fernando Llorente move back on radar after Costa fallout

Chelsea came very close to signing target man Fernando Llorente this summer, and the deal could be back on thanks to the chaos surrounding Diego Costa.

Antonio Conte managed for the forward at Juventus and wanted him in January when Costa had his first wobble with China sniffing around him.

In the end the move didn’t happen, with Swansea deciding that the Spaniard was too valuable to their fight against relegation – as indeed it proved to be with the Swans successfully beating the drop thanks to a series of vital goals from their forward.

It looked then like Llorente would stick around in Wales, with his side safe, but Costa’s attempts to free himself from Stamford Bridge mean that a deal could be resurrected. Chelsea will buy a big name striker this summer, but they also need a second choice, and a bargain deal for Llorente would make sense for all parties.
