Atletico try to enforce impossible conditions on Chelsea for Diego Costa transfer

The Daily Mirror has reported today that Diego Costa’s move to Atletico will depend on some pretty unlikely conditions.

Apparently, Atletico want Costa and will happily take him once their transfer ban expires on the 1st January and they can register the Brazilian to play for them. Until that point, however, they want him to stay at Stamford Bridge.

This would have been a great solution a few weeks ago, but clearly after the “text message” scandal between Antonio Conte and his forward it’s likely that relations are somewhat frayed. At this point Chelsea look set to cut their losses and get rid of the forward to whoever will take him. Having him hanging round the training ground for 6 months would do absolutely nothing to help.

This just goes to show how foolish falling out with an asset like Costa was, and is probably further evidence that the sooner the club can get rid of this millstone the better.
