Both of Spain’s biggest teams have been linked with moves for Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta.
Spanish transfer rumour site Don Balon is the source of the rumours, and while it’s hardly the most reliable source on the internet, it’s easy to see the logic of both teams being interested in Azpi. Barcelona lack a first choice right back and need cover at centre-back, and Cesar’s versatility makes him ideal.
Real meanwhile have excellent first choice full backs but lack cover on both sides. Pepe’s departure this summer will also leave them a little short in the middle of their defence.
For now they are just rumours and Chelsea fans should be confident of holding on to their defender who played 90 minutes in all 38 Premier League games this season. But the fact that the rest of the world is waking up to just how good he is will be worrying for all Blues fans.
