Chinese club hunting Costa says they have ‘verbal agreement’ with striker

Diego Costa’s unhappiness at Stamford Bridge is well documented, and it looks as though the forward may have played his last game for the Blues.

A January move to China didn’t work out for the Brazilian, and his switch to Atletico Madrid last summer also fell through. But having continued to give Antonio Conte and Chelsea fans good service in the meantime, it looks as though all parties may now have come to the conclusion that a transfer would suit everyone.

“A decision on which player we are going to buy in the summer has been made. And we have secured a verbal agreement with the player as well as his club” – Shu Yuhui, The Metro

The owner of Chinese club Tianjin Quanjian Shu Yuhui, quoted in today’s Metro, seemed to say that a deal for a top striker has been verbally agreed. Whether the man he is referring to is Costa remains to be seen, but given how close a deal was in the winter window, it seems a more likely move than the other suggested target, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
