Chelsea to sign another keeper despite securing 34-year-old stopper’s signature

Chelsea will extend the contract of third choice keeper Eduardo after he impressed in training and as a presence in the dressing room.

According to Goal, the Blues will offer Portuguese keeper Eduardo a 12 month extension on his current deal, which expires this summer. With Asmir Begovic likely to be leaving this summer after almost moving to Bournemouth in January, the Blues will be on the lookout for another keeper.

Goal say that Eduardo will remain as third choice, meaning that the Blues will be signing a replacement for Begovic to jump into the pecking order behind Thibaut Courtois, with Craig Gordon a major target in January.

Bosnian Begovic is a very good goalkeeper, who would start for most other Premier League clubs, so clearly Michael Emenalo understands the need for a top second choice stopper, and we could see another very good player arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer.
