Chelsea ready for massive summer after spending just less than £13m in two years

Chelsea will have a huge transfer budget this summer after a frugal period of sales and new sponsors has built Antonio Conte a serious transfer war chest.

According to Simon Johnson, who covers Chelsea in the Evening Standard, the Blues are in a position to compete for the very best players this summer after a series of quiet windows. Their net spend over the last two years has been just £12.9m according to Johnson’s article, meaning that there’s plenty saved up to splash on big names.

There’s also the big money received for Oscar in January, as well as a potential fee for Diego Costa this summer. The removal of John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic and Jon Obi Mikel off the wage bill will free up further cash.

Add to that the big money coming in from Yokohama and Carabao for sponsorship, along with the massive Nike kit deal that commences next year and you’re talking about a serious amount of money for Antonio Conte to play with.
