Chelsea agree deal to sell 5 goal attacker for just £6.2m

Chelsea have agreed a deal to sell attacker Christian Atsu to Newcastle this summer.

The forward has been on loan in the North East this season, and managed to grab 5 goals as Rafa Benitez’s side battled their way back into the Premier League, and he impressed his boss enough to ensure that the Spaniard asked his board to trigger the £6.2m release clause in his contract.

The Daily Mail claim that the Ghanaian – who joined Chelsea from Porto in 2013 but never made a senior appearance for the club – will finally get his chance to make his mark on the Premier League after spells with Everton and Bournemouth where he featured off the bench, if he featured at all.

Atsu never looked like having the ability to make it to the first team at Stamford Bridge, but he’s got pace and talent and could still go on to be a good Premier League player. We wish him all the best.
