Antonio Conte is ready to splash the cash in order to land Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti this summer, The Sun reports.
The Italy international is reportedly keen to remain in the French capital over the summer transfer window despite heavy interest from the Premier League, but the Blues boss hasn’t given up on him just yet.
The source claims that Chelsea have launched a £55m offer bid the player, but Verratti has told PSG to be rejecting the offer in hope of having his current £120,000-a-week salary improved.
Conte, who worked with Verratti during his time as the boss of Italy’s national side, thinks that the midfield dynamo is exactly what the team needs in order to reach success in Europe next term.
The former Juventus boss has noticed that Verratti has the same type of creative abilities as Andrea Pirlo back in the day, but his attempts on signing the former Pescara baller have turnerd out to be more challenging than first anticipated.
