Loftus-Cheek’s future is on loan hints Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte has admitted that he is uncertain about what to do with Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer.

The Italian coach was speaking in the wake of the Watford game which saw his side run out 4-3 winners in the end. Despite plenty of the team’s squad players making an appearance, the midfielder did not feature.

According to quotes from Conte carried in the Metro, Loftus-Cheek was supposed to start but a slight back problem prevented him from playing.

When questioned about this, the Italian took the chance to ruminate on the midfielder’s future. Loftus-Cheek has been training with the first team all year and has got a handful of minutes out of it, but Conte seems to feel that a loan next year would be an important step.

Quoted in the Metro, Conte said that he faced a ‘decision’ over the England youngster’s future:

‘We have to take the best decision for him and next season. He is a young player from our academy with a good prospect of becoming a Chelsea player [one day].’
