AS Monaco agree to sell star midfielder with Chelsea plotting bid

French league leaders AS Monaco are reportedly prepared to sell their midfield ace Tiemoue Bakayoko this summer, with Chelsea and Manchester United favourites to land the young defensive midfielder, according to Le 10 Sport.

The Ligue 1 side have given up on their contract extension talks with the 22-year-old, who is unwilling to sign a new deal at the club, with his current one keeping him at Stade Louis II until June 2018.

According to the source, Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils have already tabled a bid worth €48m (£41m) for the player, and if Chelsea exceed that offer, they’ll be the likeliest team to sign the midfield dynamo.

Antonio Conte is a very big admirer of his, and unlike Mourinho, the Blues boss already has guaranteed Champions League football to offer, with United’s chance hanging mainly in the Europa League.

Conte has also asked the club for investment on Bakayoko, also having already met with the player’s representatives.

Bakayoko would be a great signing for Chelsea, as his this season’s displays for Monaco have shown how he’s one of the most promising youngsters in Europe at the moment.
