Chelsea defender targeted after Arsenal-Schalke love triangle

The transfer merry go round takes all kinds of twists and turns in football, with the situation between Arsenal Schalke and Chelsea providing a perfect example.

First of all, Chelsea’s left back Baba Rahman went on loan to Schalke this year after a disappointing season at the Bridge last term. So far so simple.

Then Chelsea were linked with Sead Kolasinac, the other left sided defender for Schalke whose deal expires this summer. Got it.

Then Arsenal barged into the relationship, and reportedly agreed a deal with Kolasinac to make the move when his deal runs out.

This will leave Schalke without an important player, and makes them more keen than ever to sign…. Baba Rahman on a permanent deal. Ghanasoccernet carries quotes from their manager Christian Heidl saying he would like to keep the Ghanaian.

So by missing out on Kolasinac, Chelsea have created a market for Rahman… but maybe they will now be reluctant to sell him because they failed to get Kolasinac?

My head hurts.
