Chelsea given green light in £25m swoop for Juventus star

Chelsea have reportedly had their £17m offer for Juventus midfield maestro Claudio Marchisio rejected, but told that they can sign him if they rise the bid to £25m, The Sun reports.

A player of Marchisio’s class and experience would be a huge addition to the squad, but with his age already on the worse side of 30, it’s unlikely that the West London side will push for the Italian international.

Antonio Conte is very short of his Italian colleagues at the club and would surely welcome the Juventus ace with open arms should the transfer fee be anything less than what Juve are currently asking for.

Manchester United are also believed to be keen on Marchisio, who has been limited to just 22 appearances for the Bianconeri this term.

Juventus want to fund their pursuit for Fiorentina starlet Federico Bernardeschi, and are ready to part company with the injury prone and oldish club veteran.

Instead of spending £25m on Marchisio, Chelsea really should look out for better options who would have more years ahead in their playing career.
