Atletico willing to let €100m Chelsea target go after dispute with coach

Atletico Madrid are willing to sell their exciting winger Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco after the Belgian fell out with members of Diego Simeone’s coaching staff.

Chelsea were heavily linked with the Belgian winger before the January transfer window, when Carrasco was in scintillating form. His superb goal in the Champions League group stage against Bayern turned heads across Europe, but the €100m release clause inserted into his most recent deal was enough to put teams off.

Now however, El Confidencial in Spain are reporting that Atletico would be willing to sell their young star for much less than this. Diego Simeone has apparently lost patience with the attacker, who has also had a falling out with Oscar Ortega, one of the coaching staff at the Calderon.

Simeone is a manager who demands a lot from his players and a falling out is certainly possible. If Antonio Conte backs himself to be the man to get Carrasco’s flame burning more steadily, it’s certainly a gamble worth taking.
