Premier League Standing

Chelsea has recently beaten West Ham and is now comfortably set with 10 points clear of the nearest rival on top of the Premier League table. They restored their lead as Eden Hazard and Diego Costa scored on each half of the match to maintain their now routine winning trend. There was a late 93rd-minute consolation goal by Manuel Lanzini for West Ham that brought the final whistle score to 1-2 in favour of the Blues. It was good to note that Cesc Fabregas still had his place in the team after his spectacular performance against Swansea, where Chelsea won 3-1. The Hammers on the other side, welcomed Andy Carroll’s return to the pitch after he missed a couple of games due to a groin injury. In a breath-taking duel to get away from the relegation redzone, Leicester were victorious over Hull City on Saturday with a score of 3-1. It was an exciting match where Leicester City came back from behind to dominate Hull. It does seem like Leicester has metamorphosed into a much better team after Claudio Ranieri was unceremoniously ousted. It was Sam Clucas who scored first for Hull at the 14th minute, marking his return in the first team. 27 minutes in, Christian Fuchs scored almost an identical goal as Hull’s opener to get Leicester City back into the game. Riyad Mahrez, who was crowned as the 2016 African player of the year, scored the second goal for Leicester. An own goal by Tom Huddlestone made things worse for Hull during injury time.

Tottenham is still trying to keep up the pressure on Chelsea, even if there was quite a considerable gap of points between the two. On their last game against Everton, Harry Kane was on fire and scored twice to bring the final score to 3-2 in favour of the Spurs. A 30-yard shot from Harry Kane in the 20th minute was enough to get the ball at the back of the net. A few minutes in the second half, Kane was at it again, taking advantage of a poor throw from Robles to simply push the ball into the back of the net. Lukaku scored for the Toffees in the last 10 minutes of the game, but it was not enough to get back into the game. Dele Alli scored in injury time after a great pass from Harry Winks. Within seconds Enner Valencia scored for Everton in what was a thrilling game at White Hart Lane.
