David Luiz has released some welcome information about the knee injury has been suffering since before Christmas, and Chelsea fans will be relieved to hear its good news.
The defender confirmed to the Evening Standard that he does not require surgery on the problem, which has been managed with heavy strapping ever since the heavy tackle from a frustrated Sergio Aguero which caused it.
Blues fans have seen Luiz with various levels of discomfort since receiving the wound, and at times it seemed like the one thing that might disrupts Antonio Conte’s charge to the title.
However the defender says that medical staff at Stamford Bridge have told him that he won’t need to go under the knife, and that he can continue to manage the discomfort.
Chelsea fans were shocked to see that their star man had been left out of his national team’s squad after showing exceptional form this season, but they will be celebrating now that the 10 days off for the international break can be used by Luiz to get back to full strength for an intense run in.
