Chelsea will have to break the bank if they want to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata in the summer transfer window, report the Metro.
Morata is a product of Real Madrid’s academy. The Spaniard made 52 appearances and scored nine goals for Real before joining Italian champions Juventus in search of first-team football.
The 24-year-old spent two seasons in Turin and found the back of the net 27 times before returning to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2016.
Since his return to Los Blancos, he has taken to the field 33 times and scored 13 times, but has struggled to establish himself as a cornerstone in Zinedine Zidane’s side. He could subsequently be on the move again, and the Premier League could be his next destination.
According to the Metro, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, who signed Morata previously at Juventus, is hoping for a reunion with his former forward in West London.
The Metro cite Spanish reports in claiming that Chelsea will have to stump up a staggering £60million to secure Morata’s services in the summer. It remains to be seen if that’s a price the Blues would be willing to pay.
