Chelsea dealt blow in pursuit of Juventus defensive superstar

Chelsea have suffered a major blow in their pursuit of Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci, according to the Daily Star.

Bonucci has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world during his time with Juventus. His combative defensive style accompanied with his pin-point distribution from the Serie A giant’s back-line has seen him rise head and shoulders above his counterparts – figuratively and literally.

His good performances, predictably, have not gone unnoticed abroad. The Daily Star report that Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are all interested in signing Bonucci to bolster their defences.

However, the tabloid believe that one of the Premier League giants in the race to secure his services has leaped to the front of the queue.

According to the Daily Star, Bonucci has told his friends in Italy that his ambition is to play under Man City manager Pep Guardiola. It appears as though Antonio Conte will have to look elsewhere in his search for defensive reinforcements.
