Antonio Conte is looking to reunite with Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio, according to Calciomercato.
Marchisio established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world under Conte’s stewardship. He has made 357 appearances for the Italian giants, finding the back of the net on 37 occasions and showcasing his talents as an extremely accomplished midfielder.
He was also a cornerstone in Juve’s side during triumphs in eleven competitions, many of which were won with Conte at the helm. However, his importance to Conte’s predecessor Massimiliano Allegri has diminished, and he could subsequently look for the exit door in Turin.
According to Calciomercato, Chelsea are prepared to offer him an escape route. The Italian outlet note that the Blues are confident they can use Marchisio’s lack of first-team action to their advantage and secure the 31-year-old’s services.
Marchisio’s best days are likely behind him now, but the Italian international still has plenty to offer. Chelsea could well be the side to benefit from it.
