Chelsea face stern competition in the race to sign PSG midfielder Marco Verratti, report Calciomercato.
Verratti has firmly established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world since joining PSG. He acts as an impenetrably shield to his side’s back-line, as well as providing quality distribution from the pit of the midfield. His good performances have certainly not gone unnoticed, with Calciomercato reporting that six of Europe’s biggest names are interested in securing his services.
Calciomercato believe that Chelsea are joined by Manchester United, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid in the race to sign the Italy international. The biggest clubs are always on the look out for the best talent on offer, and Verratti absolutely meets that criteria.
However, obtaining Verratti is going to be a tough ask for any side. Calciomercato quote PSG sporting director Patrick Kluivert, who all-but rules out the sale of Verratti in the summer: “Verratti is the cornerstone of our midfield, and things will remain that way.”
