Chelsea face stern competition in pursuit of Real Madrid superstar

Chelsea face competition from a fellow European heavyweight in the race to sign Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez, report the Metro.

Rodriguez earned himself a move to the Bernabeu with a stellar World Cup 2014 campaign. The Colombian hit the ground running in La Liga, and has since go on to make 68 appearances in Spain’s top tier, finding the back of the net on 22 occasions.

However, largely due to the plethora of attacking talent Zinedine Zidane has at his disposal, Rodriguez has struggled to establish himself as a cornerstone in the Frenchman’s side, and could subsequently seek the Bernabeu exit door in the summer.

The Metro believe that Chelsea could well offer him an exit route, with Conte thought to be keen on drafting the 25-year-old into his squad should be leave Spain.

However, the Metro believe that Chelsea will face stern competition from former manager Carlo Ancelotti and Bayern Munich in the race to sign Rodriguez.
