Chelsea consider summer move for £25M-rated Middlesbrough star

Chelsea are interested in signing £25million-rated Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson, according to The Sun.

Though 24-years-old, Gibson is having his first taste of Premier League football this term, and he has taken to life in England’s top tier like a fish to water. In his 23 league appearances this term, during which he has found the back of the net on one occasion, he has showcased that he is a dependable defender.

His good performances for relegation-battling Middlesbrough appear to have captured the attention of several of the Premier League’s biggest names. As per The Sun, both Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in securing the Englishman’s services, and both sides could make their interest concrete in the summer transfer window.

The Sun believe that Chelsea see Gibson as a potential successor to John Terry. There are evident similarities between the two compatriots, but the former has a long way to go before scaling the heights Terry has in his career.
