Antonio Conte keen to add two defenders to his Chelsea squad in the summer

Antonio Conte wants to add two defenders to his Chelsea squad next season, according to the Express.

The Blues have been tight at the back this campaign, with the back three providing the foundation for our success. Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill and scarcely put a foot wrong this term, and Chelsea subsequently have the best defence in the league alongside Tottenham. Thibaut Courtois also leads the race for the Premier League Golden Glove.

Despite this, it doesn’t appear that Conte is totally content with his back-line at Stamford Bridge. The Express report that the Italian is keen to draft two defenders into his squad next term. One of those, according to the Express, is academy graduate Andreas Christensen.

Christensen has been in fine form for Borussia Monchengladbach during his loan spell in the Bundesliga, and is widely considered one of the most promising young defenders in Europe. The natural next step for the Danish international is to join up with the Chelsea first-team squad.
