Romelu Lukaku’s agent, the nefarious Mino Raiola, has denied his client’s links with Chelsea and insisted that he will sign a new deal with Everton.
According to reports in the Metro, the super-agent told talkSport that there are “no problems” between the player and his current club, and that “talks are ongoing” regarding a new deal – “he will sign” confirmed the Italian.
It’s an interesting tactic from Raiola, who would usually revel in stoking transfer rumours in order to raise interest in his client. While Lukaku is doing exceptionally well at Everton and staying put for now would seem to be a smart decision, it’s rare to see agents act with the long term interest of their client in mind.
It looks as though Chelsea fans who are keen to see Romelu Lukaku return may have to wait another season before seeing him back at the Bridge – if that means another year of Diego, I think we can probably just about cope.
