John Terry’s extravagant eating habits revealed by former Blue

A Chelsea youth player who trained with the team extensively under Carlo Ancelotti has revealed some of the things he learned mixing with Blues legends in his time at the club.

Conor Clifford, now 25 and playing for Dundalk in the league of Ireland, has some good tales from Cobham.

“John Terry was the main man there. He was the king of the place. Even down eating his lunch he would have a brand new knife and fork brought over to him every day”.

The revelations came in an interview that Clifford gave to RTE, as quoted on Goal. The Irish midfielder went on to describe how much time he had spent in Frank Lampard’s ear during his time training with the Blues first team trying to squeeze as much information out of the legend as possible.

It’s a revelation that raises some questions however: is it unusual to eat with clean cutlery every day? Or by “brand new” does Clifford mean that Terry was asking for fresh, previously unused cutlery? Or is it just the “brought over to him” part that is outrageous, with the club captain presumably sending players all the way across the Cobham dining hall to fetch him some silverware.

We may well have to wait for John Terry’s autobiography to find out.
