Dele Alli tells Spurs team-mate to snub Chelsea interest

Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has told his team-mate Eric Dier not to leave the club despite interest from elsewhere.

The former Sporting Lisbon midfielder faced a lot of criticism following a mistake that led to one of Sadio Mane’s two goals in the crucial Premier League clash against Liverpool last Saturday.

Before January’s transfer market the England international was linked with a move to Chelsea and Bayern Münich following his lack of playing time back then, but since Jan Vertonghen’s ankle injury Dier has grown well into the Belgium international’s role.

Alli insisted that it’s not easy for young players lie Dier, but is hopeful that he’ll be staying at White Hart Lane for a long time to come.

“You have to worry about young players sometimes in certain places if they can cope with it and will they be looked after as a 20-year-old boy and not just an asset.

I think he’s very well looked after here and hopefully he will be for a long time.”

Dier is also a versatile player and capable of playing deep in midfield, as well as wide and centre of the defensive line.

He was one of the few England players who were able to get onto the score-sheet in last summer’s Euro 2016, tournament, where he struck in a lovely free-kick against Russia.
