Chelsea winger holds talks with Antonio Conte about first-team place

Chelsea winger Christian Atsu, who’s currently on loan at Newcastle United, has talked with Blues boss Antonio Conte over the possibility of moving back to the league leaders once the season comes to an end.

However, according to the Ghanaian himself, it wouldn’t be easy for the 25-year-old to find his place from the Chelsea first-team over the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro, and the competition is only set to grow bigger next season with Champions League football stepping into the club’s weekly schedule.

Atsu has had a good loan spell at Newcastle so far, and the Championship side have the chance to make his loan deal permanent by the end of the season.

“It is difficult for me and Chelsea – you can see the kind of wingers they have.

I have to keep working hard. I spoke with Conte. He is a good manager, very serious in his work. I need to keep fighting for Newcastle and do well here.

I will be very happy if Chelsea win the Premier League and Newcastle get promoted.”

Chelsea signed Atsu in January 2013 on a reported £3.5m fee from FC Porto, but he is yet to make a single competitive appearance in the Chelsea shirt during his time at the club, only spending frustrating loan spells at Vitesse, Everton, Bournemouth and Malaga.
