Chelsea star set to miss Swansea clash

Chelsea have received a heavy fitness blow ahead of their Premier League clash against Swansea City this Saturday, as number one goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is set to miss the game due to a stomach bug, The Sun reports.

The 24-year-old Belgian was given a rest in Chelsea’s 2-0 FA Cup victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers alongside other unfit players David Luiz and Marcos Alonso, and second choice keeper Asmir Begovic turned in for yet another Cup tie.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international hasn’t made a single league appearance so far this season, but could be finally given his chance by Antonio Conte this weekend as Courtois’ state is rather unclear at the moment.

Courtois was also meant to take part in a Telefoot’s show on Sunday morning, but has confirmed his absence due to the illness.

With second-placed Manchester City having their derby against Manchester United being postponed for another date, Chelsea will have a chance to at least temporarily move eleven points clear at the top of the table.
