Chelsea player insists John Terry will be playing next season

Chelsea’s backup goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has assured fans that club captain John Terry is not approaching the end of his top flight career.

The goalkeeper spoke in glowing terms of his captain, insisting that his commitment and his physical form meant that he could squeeze out a few more years at the top level.

“I can see him continuing to play and while he is playing like this, I don’t see why he should quit.” the Bosnian stopper told the Evening Standard.

“He trains every day, he’s as fit as a fiddle and you don’t get the sense that he is coming to an end.” he continued.

Begovic has doubts about his own future too. The former Portsmouth goalkeeper, who joined Chelsea from Stoke, has been linked with moves away this summer after two years sitting on the bench at Stamford Bridge. A move to Bournemouth in January came close to being completed, but Chelsea’s inability to secure Craig Gordon as a replacement ended up scuppering the deal.
