Antonio Conte looking to hijack AC Milan’s transfer for La Liga defender

AC Milan are attempting to seal a deal for Villareal defender Mateo Musacchio this summer, but will face a competition from Chelsea as Antonio Conte is keen to bolster his defensive ranks this summer, according to Daily Mirror.

The 26-year-old centre-back has been a key player in the La Liga side’s team this campaign, and a move to Italy has been all but done according to reports.

However, Antonio Conte is also a big fan of the Argentine international, and is looking to muscle his way to seal a deal for the player on the last minute.

Musacchio has a release clause of £26m on his contract, so the transfer is more likely to be decided in the favour of personal terms instead of the size of the transfer fee.

Blues legend John Terry’s career at Stamford Bridge is nearing its end this season, and Chelsea want a firm replacement for the Englishman before the next campaign begins.

Chelsea have also shown ambition to bring back Andreas Christensen from Borussia Monchengladbach, as they’re ready to reject the German side’s £13m offer for the young Denmark international.
