Chelsea hoping £30m target will resist massive contract boost

Premier League interest in Monaco’s talented side continues, with Thomas Lemar the latest player to attract rumours about a move to England.

L’Equipe name Manchester City as leading the race for the midfielder’s signature, but Chelsea are also apparently in the mix along with Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.

Lemar signed for Monaco from Caen two years ago and is in the middle of negotiations over a new contract. Some of the top teams who are chasing him will be hoping to discourage him from putting pen to paper in order to lower his potential £30m asking price.

Lemar offers huge energy and intensity in midfield, as well as a decent eye for goal. He has scored 14 goals in 62 appearances for the club from the principality since signing in 2015.

The 21 year old and his teammate Tiemoue Bakayoko both look to be top targets for major European clubs this season, and Chelsea are along for the chase.
