Cesc Fabregas says Thibaut Courtois’ Real Madrid links are ‘no surprise’

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said it wouldn’t surprise him at all if Real Madrid were to make an offer for Blues shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois, as he labels the Belgium international as the world’s best keeper.

Antonio Conte’s men have been superb this season and are comfortably sitting at the top of the Premier League table with eight points’ margin to second-placed Manchester City.

Courtois has been one of the team’s key players in the club’s title charge, keeping a wonderful 13 clean sheets this season in the league.

His top-class performances have yet again linked him with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid, who are intensively looking for a replacement to Keylor Navas in the 24-year-old Belgian.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope that he believes it’s very reasonable for one of the world’s best teams to be interested in one of the world’s best players, but insists that Courtois is and will be a very important player for the Blues in the future.

“It wouldn’t surprise me at all because Courtois is the best goalkeeper in the world. It’s normal that the best teams in the world want the best goalkeeper in the world.

Chelsea is a top club and, for the future of this team, Thibaut is a very, very important player.

That is more so considering Chelsea’s future aspirations in terms of competing in the Champions League next season and winning the Premier League title.

You need the best players to compete for the top trophies and Thibaut is one of them.”

Real Madrid have also been keeping tabs on Manchester United’s David De Gea, but according to reports Courtois has already told his friends that he’s ready to make a move to Santiago Bernabeu.
