Another Chelsea stalwart joins the Chinese Super League

Chelsea hero Ricardo Carvalho has joined Shanghai SIPG of the Chinese Super League, according to the Metro.

The centre back had a long and illustrious career at the Bridge having been brought to the Premier League by Jose Mourinho upon his arrival from Porto in the summer of 2004.

Carvalho ended up with three Premier League titles from his time in West London, and his partnership with John Terry was one of Europe’s most solid for several years.

Since leaving Chelsea to link up with Mourinho at Real Madrid, Carvalho has also had success at Monaco. Now he will make his way East to link up with fellow former Chelsea man Oscar on the pitch for Shanghai.

Oscar has had an excellent start to his career in China, and Carvalho will be hoping that his age is less of a factor in a league with a significantly lower standard.

Best of luck, Ricardo!
