Chelsea set to recall Premier League loan star this January

Chelsea are reportedly plotting to recall Nathan Ake from Bournemouth this January, after the Dutchman’s impressive performances for the Cherries this campaign. According to ESPN, Antonio Conte will be making the decision over the 21-year-old’s future this weekend.

At the start of the season Ake was sent to Vitality Stadium for a season-long loan spell after turning out to be a surplus to requirements by Conte. However, after the team’s switch to the 3-4-3 formation, Ake’s versatility would be a great addition to the defensive ranks.

Nathan Ake.

He isn’t only able to cover the center-back’s position, but is also a great suitor for the left wing-back’s role as he’s naturally left-footed. Currently, Marcos Alonso is the only one who suits well to this position, and a lot depends on whether he has a good or a bad day on the pitch.

The deal that took Ake to Bournemouth has a recall clause, and Antonio Conte said on Friday’s press conference how he’s impressed by the former Watford defender’s performances this season.

Ake is a really good player and now in the last five games he’s started to play with Bournemouth and is playing every game.

Honestly, I’m evaluating his situation, because Ake could be an interesting opportunity in this window, yes, for us.

Chelsea have also recalled Kenedy (from Watford) and Charlie Musonda (from Real Betis) due to different reasons, but they could be sent on another loan spell for the remainder of the season.

Yesterday, Chelsea youngster Isaiah ‘Izzy’ Brown made a loan move to Huddersfield Town after spending the first half of the campaign at Rotherham United, where he scored three goals in 20 appearances.
