Former Manchester United defender Gerard Pique is being linked with a shock return to the Premier League – but this time in Chelsea colours, Spanish media outlet Don Balon (via talkSPORT) reports.
Pique, 29, is currently one of Barcelona’s most valuable players and one of the best defenders in the league, having also being named in the World Eleven of the year 2016.
However, he’s currently unsettled at the club, and a switch back to the English top-flight could be on the cards for the Spain international, who has been a key member of the Catalan side ever since he joined them in 2008.
Don Balon suggests that the player is not a popular face in the Barcelona dressing room, with the rest of the players aware of the rumours linking him to a move away from Camp Nou.
Antonio Conte is hoping to strengthen his Chelsea squad already this January, with a new centre-back widely desired, but it’s unlikely for Barcelona to agree on selling anyone until this summer, given that they also want to retain their current team for the remainder of the season.
