Everton are interested in Branislav Ivanovic, according to reports in papers like today’s Metro.
Rumours about the defender’s future have been in constant circulation since he lost his place in the side earlier this season, but nothing concrete has since emerged.
In fact Brana has been one of Antonio Conte’s favourite options off the bench to close games up, appearing as a replacement for Victor Moses at right wing back or slotting into central defence. But the reality is that he hasn’t started a game since September, and our defensive options have only grown stronger since then.
It’s in the latter position that one can see him making a difference for Everton. While many Chelsea fans lost patience with Brana at right back, we’ve all seen how solid he can be on a good day, and given his massive experience it’s no surprise Ronald Koeman wants to bring him in to a side that has shown great promise but is quite limited by having Phil Jagielka at centre back.
