Chelsea’s transfer radar has gone mysteriously quiet at vital moment

Given how many rumours have been circulating liking Chelsea with all manner of players, one would have expected something concrete to be emerging at this point halfway through the month, especially given the sale of first team semi-regular Oscar earlier in the month. But at the moment only an unconvincing Thomas Muller whisper is doing the rounds.

The recall of Nathan Ake to the defence has put a damper on the procession of expensive European centre backs being linked to the Blues, while the trails of Serie A midfielder trio Frank Kessie, Marcelo Brozovic and Milan Badelj seem to have gone cold.

Diego Costa’s uncertain situation will surely lead to a flurry of frontment’s names being raised in connection with us until his future is certain. But so far only an unrealistic sounding move for Muller has been mooted in that direction.

Cover, and more importantly competition, and wing back is a clear need however, and while there hasn’t been much to go on in recent days, it’s hard to imagine there being no movement whatsoever in that department – even if that just means Kenedy returning to the first team squad for the rest of the season.
