Chelsea chase striker despite his double failure at Real Madrid

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

That’s according to reports in the Daily Telegraph, who claim that the Blues want the Spaniard to replace Diego Costa should he leave the club in the summer.

Chelsea have been linked with Morata before, and apparently bid for him last summer before Real activated the buyback clause they had in place with Juventus to reclaim their youth product.

But since making the move back to Spain Morata has struggled for game time, starting only 6 La Liga fixtures this term and losing ground to youngsters like Mariano and Lucas Vasquez in the attacking pecking order at the Bernabeu.

Morata did not cross over with Antonio Conte at Juventus, leaving just as the striker arrived. But he will have seen plenty of him in Italy and will know him well. The real question is whether the 24 year old is really up to the demands of the Italian coach’s football.
