Brighton goalkeeper Chelsea’s new target to replace departing Begovic

After being knocked back in the pursuit for Celtic keeper Craig Gordon, Chelsea are now plotting a shock deal for Brighton Hove and Albion number one David Stockdale, according to Mirror.

With Asmir Begovic on the line of making a £10m move to Premier League side Bournemouth, Antonio Conte is desperate to sign a new back-up keeper for Thibaut Courtois.

The Blues have already been linked with moves for Ajax’s Tim Krul, Galatasaray keeper Fernando Muslera and even Manchester City outcast Joe Hart during this January transfer window, but it’s understood that Gordon is the only player Chelsea have made a bid for – a £3m offer which was turned down by the club last week.

Begovic kept a clean-sheet after making his fifth Chelsea start of the season last night against Brentford in the 4-0 hammering over the Chmapionship side in FA Cup’s fourth round tie, but is still looking for his way out of the club before Tuesday.
